Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect

Cisco Secure Client is a VPN and network security app that delivers encrypted corporate access for Android devices on the move. Designed for employees who need reliable connectivity to business applications—email, virtual desktops, and internal resources—this client establishes persistent, secure tunnels to your organization's network infrastructure.

The app intelligently adapts its connection method to your network conditions, choosing between TLS, DTLS, or IPsec/IKEv2 protocols to optimize performance and battery efficiency. Network roaming is handled seamlessly: if your IP address changes, your connection drops, or your device enters standby, the tunnel automatically resumes without interrupting your work.

Authentication is flexible and enterprise-grade. The client supports a wide range of authentication methods and integrates SCEP for automatic certificate deployment, plus certificate import via URI handler. Policies are managed by your IT administrator and pushed automatically from the security gateway, ensuring your device stays compliant without manual intervention. You retain access to both IPv4 and IPv6 internal network resources, and the client respects administratively controlled tunnel policies to enforce security boundaries.

The Umbrella module adds DNS-layer threat protection for Android 6.0.1 and later, blocking malicious domains before they load. This protection works independently or in tandem with your VPN tunnel. The app automatically localizes to your device's language and region settings, removing friction for global teams.

Cisco Secure Client is built for stability on older and newer devices alike, running on Android 4.4 and up. Note that split DNS is unavailable on Android 7.x and 8.x due to operating system constraints, and some minor UI freezes may occur on the Diagnostics screen. Features such as filter support, trusted network detection, split exclude, and local LAN exception are not available in this package.

This client is licensed exclusively for Cisco ASA headend customers with active Plus, Apex, or VPN Only licenses. Your system administrator can provision trial licenses through the standard Cisco evaluation process. The underlying infrastructure requires Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Boot image 8.0(4) or later.
